Radiologic Technology students and faculty represent ULM at LSRT Annual Conference

MONROE, La. 鈥撎性色视频 Radiologic Technology students attended and competed in state competitions with several other schools at the Louisiana Society of Radiologic Technologists (LSRT) Annual Conference this summer. The entire Senior class, consisting of 43 students, attended the听conference, along with five faculty members.

ULM Radiologic Technology students competed in four competitions, winning first place in the Quiz Bowl, first and third听places听in the听Student Exhibit competition, and second place in the听Student Essay competition.听Teams also competed in a t-shirt design competition.听

The Quiz Bowl team included Destiny Augustine, Zoey Craig, Katie Marcantel, Drake Prunty, Nathan Seward, and Jaiden Turner. The team was coached by Mr. Jason Smith.听

Sabrina Dickson placed second in the Student Essay听competition with her submission of听鈥淩evolutionizing Pathology: The Merge of CT Imaging with Radiomics and听Radiogenomics.鈥听Olivia Faith Breeland won first place in the Student Exhibit competition with her submission of听What is the Role of Imaging in Diagnosing Parkinson鈥檚 Disease?听Reese Magallanes earned third place in the Student Exhibit competition with听鈥淐ranial Ultrasound in Neonates: A Non-Invasive Window into the Brain.鈥

Three nominated students also attended the prestigious LSRT Student Leadership Development Program:听Destiny Augustine, Drake Prunty, and Nathan Seward. These students attended a specialized program to develop leadership skills and had the opportunity to network with various leaders across the state.

The Louisiana State Radiologic Technologist Board of Examiners (LSRTBE) is the听board听that听issues and manages the licenses for all licensed medical听imagers听in the听state.听听The Executive Director of that听board听Mrs. Hollie Taranto is a ULM alumna of the RT to BSRT program. She was awarded the Technologist of the Year award for 2026. The recognition is for her work in upholding the standards for medical imaging in Louisiana for the benefit of patient safety in听imaging.

The ULM Program Director Mr. Brett Bennett said, 鈥淔rom the students听demonstrating听hard work听both academically and in research to ULM听graduates听making a difference in the leadership direction of the听state, the program at ULM continues to reflect positively on Northeast Louisiana and this great听university.鈥
